Position Description:

The Kids Ministry Director will be a creative, enthusiastic, and entrepreneurial bridge-builder to children, parents, and caregivers both within the church and throughout the surrounding community. He or she will have a driving passion for cultivating a vibrant, Christ-centered, gospel-empowered faith in kids from birth to 5th grade.

Key Responsibilities

• Implement and lead a comprehensive ministry to kids and their families in alignment with the church’s overall mission and vision.
• Develop and manage activities and programming (Sundays and mid-week) for a unified and effective discipleship system following best practices in kids and family ministry.
• Plan and execute high-impact “bridge events,” special programming, and other creative strategies to engage kids and families in the surrounding community.
• In consultation with Lead Pastor, select and implement gospel-focused, mission-minded, and developmentally appropriate curriculum.
• Regularly connect, communicate, and build relationships with kids, parents, and caregivers.
• Cultivate a supportive community with parents and caregivers, providing resources, encouragement, and opportunities for involvement in their children's spiritual development.
• Identify and celebrate ways to foster genuine intergenerational connection throughout the church.
• Recruit, train, and manage a volunteer Kids Ministry Team to implement a sustainable pathway of discipleship.
• Equip and supervise a team of paid Childcare Providers / Kids Ministry Leaders as needed.
• Partner with Church Administrator in updating/furnishing/resourcing our kids spaces.
• Collaborate with Lead Pastor and staff in making our entire campus to be a warm, hospital, safe environment for kids and families.
• Effectively manage kids ministry budget for missional effectiveness.
• Ensure the safety and security of all children participating in the ministry programs, implementing appropriate policies and procedures in accordance with Indian River Presbyterian Church guidelines and general best practices.

Desired Gifts/Competencies:

• Demonstrated track record of entrepreneurial instincts for making new connections with parents, caregivers, and children.
• Exceptional interpersonal and leadership skills to manage people and events.
• Excellent organizational, process and project management skills with the ability to multitask, prioritize work, and meet deadlines (both individually and as part of a team).
• Experience with selecting and implementing developmentally appropriate activities for children.
• CPR/First Aid certification.
• Bachelor degree in related field is strongly preferred
• Five years experience in an kids ministry or education setting is strongly preferred.

• Must exhibit a God-given calling to and passion for kids and families.
• Must agree and adhere to the Essential Tenets and Constitution of ECO.
• Must be at least 18 years old
• Must pass a background screening
